March 31st, 2000 ROMCO race at San Antonio, TX

Updated Dec. 16, 2000

On March 31st, 2000 we went to the ROMCO Super Late Model race at San Antonio, TX. We had re-baselined the car over the winter and it helped. The car felt more stable, but a push developed after the tires got hot. We tried to correct this during practice, but did not make a big enough change. Turns out the right front A-frame mounts had slipped. I hung on and finished the race in 12th place. I also want to thank Clint and his Mom and Dad for helping at the track and storing the car in their garage overnight. - Kris

A view of the front straight, turn one, and pits at San Antonio. The #14 is Chris Davidson and #19 is Kent Baltzel. Dad and Clint setting up the pits. It was pretty cold before practice. ROMCO pre-qualifying tech. The #31 on the scales is James Coursey, Jr.

Race time. Me inside of Chris Davidson in turn four. The right front top A-frame mounts slipped during the race and made the car steering feel vague for the entire race. Me outside of Ralph Burris in turn two. This is just before the back strech whoop-dee-do. That bump almosts launches the car airborne. Dad giving the tow truck a once over in the Motel parking lot on Sunday morning. We had stashed the car at Clint's parent's house after the race.
