Flutter? |
A common problem with Spads, especially those that are overpowered or built for speed, is flutter. Flutter is when a control surface, usually the ailerons, begin to vibrate back and forth at great speed. This can cause loss of control and even a crash, not to mention it's annoying! Here is a good method of curing flutter in most Spads, if it shows up. Simply taper the ailerons near the wingtips. Nine out of ten times, this cures the problem. Sometimes, however, you will need to go a step further and reinforce the aileron with bamboo skewers and the like. |
